Editing Word documents

How the agent edits Word files in tracked-changes mode and how you review changes.

The agent can edit Word documents (.docx) directly — for example fill in a template or rework sections. Word stays the leading format: you end up with a normal Word file.

Considerations

  • You need a role with edit rights (Editor or higher). A Viewer can only view documents.
  • Uploaded originals are never touched: if the agent is asked to edit an uploaded document, then it creates a working copy for that.

Changes in tracked-changes mode

All agent edits are written into the document as tracked changes. Nothing is silently overwritten: you see exactly what the agent changed, and you decide about every change yourself.

The document preview

Next to the chat, the preview shows the document page by page. Use the tabs to switch between three views:

  • Show changes — the document with visible tracked changes.
  • All accepted — how the document would look if all changes were accepted.
  • Original — the document before the agent's edits.

Evidence in comments

If the agent adopts content from sources, then it attaches the citation as a Word comment at the affected location — including a link back to the source. So even in the downloaded document it stays traceable what a change is based on.

Downloading and continuing

Use Download DOCX to get the Word file with all tracked changes and comments. Review and final approval happen in Word as usual (more on the principle).
